UN: ISIS Committed Genocide against Yazidi Religious Minority in Syria and Iraq

05-600An investigation by the United Nations has found that ISIS committed genocide and other war crimes in their continued effort to exterminate the Yazidi religious minority in Syria and Iraq. The finding was based on actions taken by the Islamic State since August 2014 against 400,000 members of the Yazidi community. Yazidi men and boys who refuse to convert to Islam are routinely killed. Officials have uncovered dozens of mass graves. Yazidi women are also targets and are repeatedly raped. The UN is urging international action to halt the killing and to prosecute the perpetuators.
