Rev. Jacques Hamel, 1930-2016

07-600France is recovering from yet another terrorist attack. Clergy and government officials were among those who gathered at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame for a Mass honoring the Rev. Jacques Hamel, the French priest killed by two young men. The terrorists attacked Hamel as he celebrated Mass earlier this week in a small town church near Paris. He was 85 years old. The men had pledged allegiance to ISIS and were known to authorities. One attacker had been released from prison over the objections of prosecutors and was wearing a police issued electronic bracelet at the time of the attack. A parishioner was also severely wounded. Pope Francis was quick to condemn the “barbaric killing of a priest.”
