Nobel Peace Prize Awarded to President of Colombia

07-600Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos was awarded the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize. The vote came as a surprise to some. Just days earlier, Colombians rejected a plan Santos helped draft that would have ended 52 years of civil war. Santos, however, has promised to continue talks with leftist rebels and revive the peace plan. The Nobel Peace Prize, worth $930,000, will be presented in Oslo, Norway on December 10.
