Donald Trump and Mike Pence began this Thanksgiving week by visiting a Presbyterian Church in New Jersey. Media members weren’t allowed inside. The two also continued interviewing candidates for administration posts. This week, some prominent religious groups raised new concerns. The Council on American-Islamic Relations criticized several of Trump’s appointees for past anti-Muslim statements. The American Jewish Committee called on Trump to once and for all abolish the idea of a registry for Muslims. And more than 1,200 interfaith leaders released a petition urging members of Congress to reject what the group called any “cabinet of bigotry.” Meanwhile, several faith-based conservatives have been applauding Trump’s appointments. Many of them especially praised Trump’s choice of Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General.
