Activists Continue to Fast for Immigration Reform

Faith leaders and other groups this week heightened pressure on Congress to pass an immigration reform bill currently stalled in the House. Many have been participating in an ongoing Fast for Families at the National Mall, going without food for days to keep focus on the nation’s estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants. Among the faith leaders who visited the fasters this week was Rabbi Steve Gutow of the Jewish Council of Public Affairs. He and others lit a Hanukkah menorah and prayed for the welfare of immigrants before beginning their fast.
