AME Church Issues Call to Action on “Sin of Racism”; Wave of Fires Plague Black Churches

Two weeks after the prayer meeting massacre at the Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, the nation continues to confront issues of race. This week, the AME’s national council of bishops issued an urgent “Call to Action,” asking people of all faiths to join together to address what they called the “unresolved sin of racism.” Meanwhile, amid a new wave of suspicious fires at Southern black churches, the NAACP has warned congregations to take “necessary precautions” to protect themselves.
