In Washington, leaders of several black church denominations, including the African Methodist Episcopal Church, joined in a worship service to address the issue of racism in the United States. The leaders also held a press conference on the theme of “Liberty and Justice for All,” urging US lawmakers to take greater action on criminal justice reform, gun laws, and voting rights:

Rev. Staccato Powell (Grace AME Zion Church): “We are here in Washington today to serve notice that we as people of faith will not return to a complicit complacency of calm composure.”
