Human rights and religious freedom advocates are ramping up pressure on Iran to release an Iranian-born American Christian pastor who was recently sentenced to eight years in prison there. Saeed Abedini was convicted last month of threatening Iran’s national security by helping to expand the house church movement. Eighty members of the U.S. Congress wrote to Secretary of State John Kerry calling on him to exhaust every possible option to secure Abedini’s release.
