Hebrew University’s Institute of Archaeology says it has discovered a seal for a papyrus document from the eighth century BC signed by the biblical King Hezekiah. Researchers suspect the clay imprint was made by the king himself. It is believed to be the first Judean seal to be discovered by archaeologists. The seal was found in a dump by the wall that surrounds Jerusalem’s Old City. Hezekiah ruled around 700 BC and helped build Jerusalem into an ancient metropolis.
