Church-state activists are urging the U.S. Supreme Court to take up the issue of whether faith-based nonprofits must provide contraception coverage under the Affordable Care Act. This week the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a group of nuns, the Little Sisters of the Poor, must provide the coverage to employees or face IRS penalties. The nuns say providing the coverage would violate their religious beliefs, even if it is done through a third party as the administration proposes. Several other religious groups also have lawsuits underway.
