Auschwitz Rediscovers Lost Belongings of Victims

02-600A poignant lost and found this week: The Auschwitz Memorial Museum has recovered some 16,000 personal items of Jews killed at the former Nazi death camp. Archaeologists had found the items in 1967 in the ruins of the camp’s gas chamber. They were stored by Poland’s former communist regime and then forgotten. The boxes containing the personal effects were discovered at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and returned to the museum earlier this month.
