Bangladesh Raises Minimum Wage in Its Garment Industry

A government-appointed board in Bangladesh this week recommended raising the minimum wage for that impoverished country’s millions of garment workers. The new wage would be about $66 a month, up from the current rate of $38. Even with the raise, labor leaders and research groups say Bangladesh’s wages for garment workers would still be the lowest in the world.
