Atlanta Catholic archbishop Wilton Gregory issued an apology this week for considering a move into an expensive new residence. Gregory had been criticized for building a 6000-square-foot mansion that cost $2.2 million. In his letter to a Catholic newspaper, the archbishop admitted to failing those under his leadership and damaging his own credibility. Gregory praised the humble lifestyle of Pope Francis and said “the world and the church have changed.” He said the mansion will probably be sold.
