Bread for the World Urges Congress to Protect Anti-Hunger Programs

1713-hunger-report-320

The Christian group Bread for the World released its annual report this week urging new steps to end hunger in America by 2030. The group’s leaders sharply criticized efforts in Congress to cut funding for government nutrition programs, formerly food stamps. They highlighted the House of Representatives’ proposal that would make cuts of almost $40 billion over the next decade, saying that would increase hunger and create new burdens for faith-based groups that help the poor.
