On our calendar this week, Sunday (June 8) is Pentecost, when Christians celebrate God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church.

According to the New Testament, the Holy Spirit came to Jesus’s followers in the form of tongues of fire. Pentecost is also known as the birthday of the church.
