California’s Right to Die Law Takes Effect

05-600California’s right to die law took effect this week (June 9), making physician-assisted dying now accessible to one in six Americans. Under the law, terminally ill Californians can legally hasten their deaths by asking doctors to prescribe lethal drug cocktails. Although some people of faith support the law, many oppose it. Two of the state’s largest religious healthcare providers, Catholic and Adventist hospitals, say their doctors will not participate.
