Congregations and Faith Groups Play Important Roles in Tornado Relief Efforts

tornado-reliefFaith-based groups are mounting a massive mobilization to help victims of this week’s devastating tornadoes. As many as 13,000 homes in Oklahoma were destroyed in the storms that also killed 24 people. In the immediate wake of the tornadoes, clergy around the world called for special prayers. In the affected areas, local churches became shelters and relief centers. Congregations from across the country are now organizing teams of volunteers to help with cleanup, and as long-term needs are being assessed, faith-based aid groups are soliciting donations. We have a list of some of those groups on our website.
