Congressman John Lewis Wins National Book Award

01-600The National Book Awards were given out this week (November 16), and one of this year’s winners was congressman and pastor John Lewis. Lewis recalled that when he was 16 he could not get a library card because, he was told, they were for whites only. Now he and two co-authors have been honored for their young adult graphic novel about the civil rights era.
