There were prayers around the world for victims of heavy floods in the Balkans, the worst there in more than a century. The floods have taken lives in Serbia, Bosnia, and Croatia, and forced tens of thousands more to flee their homes. Faith groups, including Catholic Relief Services, are raising money for the relief effort. Entire cities are said to be without drinking water and electricity, and there are concerns about the danger posed by shifting landmines left over from the Bosnian war.
