Noted theologian Father Richard McBrien died this week (January 25). He was 78 years old. McBrien taught for more than three decades at the University of Notre Dame. He was a popular writer, sometimes controversial, and reached a wide audience with his many columns and books that explained Catholic doctrine, especially the reforms of Vatican II.
