We note an interesting story in the Daily Beast this week (May 18) about former US Senator Robert Bennett of Utah, a moderate Republican and a Mormon, who died earlier this month. According to his family, Bennett was outraged by the anti-Muslim rhetoric of Donald Trump. So in his last months, Bennett apologized personally to as many Muslims as he could for his party’s apparent acceptance of Trump’s anti-immigrant speech.
