Personal Papers of John Paul II Published Rather than Burned

A controversy this week over publication of the personal notes of the late Pope John Paul II: The new book is I Am Very Much in God’s Hands, and the issue is whether it should have been published at all. John Paul left a will saying his notes should be burned, but his longtime former secretary, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, said he could not bear to destroy the notes because of what he said was their value in understanding the late pope’s spirituality.
