Christians were in more danger in 2015 than at any other time in modern history, according to the nonprofit Open Doors USA, which tracks Christian persecution around the world. At a press conference, leaders said 2,400 churches were destroyed or damaged and more than 7,000 Christians killed for faith-related reasons. The State Department’s point man for religious freedom, Ambassador David Saperstein also spoke:
Rabbi David Saperstein (Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, US State Department): “Every one of the numbers represented in this report is a human being.”
The group said North Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Pakistan were among the most dangerous places in the world to be a Christian.
