On Monday (April 18), the Supreme Court will take up a case surrounding the controversial issue of deporting undocumented immigrants. In 2014, President Obama issued executive orders that would have deferred the deportation of nearly four million people. But the plan was never implemented. Several states filed suit, arguing it was an unconstitutional use of presidential authority. Lower courts agreed. But the president’s plan has support in many parts of the faith community, including the US Catholic Bishops.
