Historic Stonewall Inn Dedicated As National Monument to Gay Rights

05-600The Stonewall Inn, a Greenwich Village bar, became the first national monument dedicated to the struggle for LGBT rights. The bar is the site of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, a flashpoint that helped launch the gay rights movement. The inn, and nearby park and streets all make up part of the newly dedicated Stonewall National Monument, which will be overseen by the National Park Service.
