Aid is starting to make its way into Haiti after the recent devastating hurricane. Thousands were displaced by the storm and an estimated 1,000 have died. Health care workers are increasingly concerned that a lack of water and sanitation could lead to a spike in cases of cholera. Ten thousand in the country already died from the disease since 2010. Faith-based aid organizations are among those trying to help. Catholic Relief Services has committed $5 million to help those in Haiti and other Caribbean nations recover. The United Nations estimates 1.4 million people are in need of assistance. Hurricane Matthew also killed more than two dozen here in the US. In North Carolina, thousands have been forced from their homes, and there are fears continued flooding in the region will make recovering from the storm all the more difficult.
