Immigration Reform Bill Moves Ahead in Senate

immigration-senate-judiciaryFaith groups praised the Senate Judiciary Committee this week for approving new immigration legislation. It now goes to the full Senate, where a vote is expected next month. Evangelicals have been vocal in calls for immigration reform and welcomed the bipartisan effort which they said will advance the common good. The legislation does not include an amendment expanding immigration rights for same-sex couples. Some religious leaders warned they would pull their support of the whole bill if that amendment were included.
