India Denies Visas to Religious Freedom Commission

image006-600The US Commission on International Religious Freedom says India has denied its members visas to visit. Members of the commission had planned to travel to the country to assess the religious situation. In 2015, the commission included India on its list of countries experiencing religious freedom violations that should be monitored. The report also noted that religiously motivated violence had increased there for three consecutive years. In a statement, the Indian Embassy said that a “foreign entity” had no standing to pass judgment.
