Monsoon Floods Ravage Sacred Hindu Pilgrimage Sites in India

india-floods-280In India, prayer services were held this week for the more than one thousand people who died in massive flooding and landslides. Close to 100,000 people were rescued, and several thousand more were still stranded well into this week. Hundreds of bodies were found in a flooded area near one temple, the site of an annual Hindu pilgrimage. Most years pilgrims finish the trip before monsoon season, but this year record-high rains came early.
