The Islamic Society of North America and members of the interfaith Shoulder-to-Shoulder campaign urged the Democratic and Republican parties to take a strong stance against anti-Muslim bigotry. They asked the parties to add explicit language to their platforms at the upcoming conventions that would condemn discrimination against all religious minorities:
