Interfaith Vigils Commemorate Sandy Hook Shooting

gun-600Interfaith vigils were held across the nation this week to mark the 4th anniversary of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. Twenty children and six school staff members were killed in that tragedy. Vigil organizers renewed calls for stricter gun control. At the service in Washington, participants mourned all victims of shootings with a procession of families who have lost loved ones. Leaders urged perseverance in the fight to end gun violence:

BISHOP MARIANN EDGAR BUDDE (Episcopal Diocese of Washington): “That day will come, and in large measure the faithfulness of those who walk these days will carry us there.”
