An ISIS affiliate in Egypt this week released an image claiming to show the beheading of a Croatian hostage kidnapped near Cairo. Egypt’s top religious institute Al-Azhar strongly condemned the apparent killing, calling it a “demonic act.” Meanwhile, civilians continued to flee ISIS violence in Syria. Human rights groups said dozens of Christians were abducted. This week, ISIS did release 22 elderly Assyrian Christians who were among more than 200 kidnapped in February. World Food Program (WFP) officials renewed calls for more donations to help millions of Syrian refugees. Next month, WFP will be forced to eliminate food aid for about 200,000 refugees in Jordan because of a lack of funding.
