Israel Approves More Housing in West Bank and East Jerusalem

02-600In Israel, the government approved the construction of 2,500 housing units in the West Bank. 566 new housing units in a contested part of East Jerusalem were also approved. American and European officials have long argued that continued building in Jewish settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem will harm any hopes of achieving peace in the Middle East. Critics say Israel is more willing to disregard international condemnation now that the new Trump administration is in place.
