Israel to Allow Non-Orthodox Jewish Prayer at Western Wall

Jewish-Woman-600Israel’s government has announced it will allow non-Orthodox Jewish prayer at Jerusalem’s Western Wall. The government said it plans to build a $9 million plaza for mixed-gender prayer at the wall. The plaza will be next to the Orthodox prayer plaza but separate from it. Some hailed the move, calling it a historic recognition of the country’s long-marginalized non-Orthodox Jewish believers. But others said the measure did not go far enough.
