Longtime civil rights leader Julian Bond died this week at the age of 75. He joined the 1960s civil rights movement when he was a student at Morehouse College and became one of the founding members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. He is remembered for his lifelong activism, including his opposition to the Vietnam War and his support of gay rights. He also helped found the Southern Poverty Law Center and served more than a decade as chairman of the NAACP.
