Mormon Church Announces Support for Gay Rights and for Religious Opposition to Gay Rights

In Utah, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mormons, announced their support for statewide laws that protect gay rights, including equal access to housing and employment. However, Mormon officials said such laws must respect the religious rights of those who disagree. They stopped short of supporting same-sex marriage.
