Pakistani education officials have banned a memoir written by Malala Yousafzai, the teenage activist shot by the Taliban for promoting education for girls. The officials represented some 40,000 private schools across the country. They claimed that the book was disrespectful of Islam and that Malala was being used as “a tool of the West.” This October her book, I Am Malala, was released to international acclaim, and it has made the New York Times bestseller list for the past four weeks.
