Man Charged with Murder of Queens Imam

08-600

The man charged with murder in the recent death of an imam and his associate in New York appeared in court this week and denied he had killed the two men. Suspect Oscar Morel admitted, however, that surveillance video showed him at the scene of the killings. The shootings occurred near a mosque in Queens on Sunday. Authorities are offering no motive yet for the murders but say a hate crime was not being ruled out. About 1,000 people gathered on Monday in a municipal parking lot for a service for the slain men.
