The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mormons, is facing a backlash over a new policy announced last week that bans the baptism of the children of same-sex couples and declares married gay couples apostates. Under the new edict, children of gay couples can be baptized only after they are no longer living with their parents or after renouncing same-sex relationships. Many Mormons are now threatening to leave the church because of the new policy.
