A series of anti-Muslim protests in front of US mosques last weekend did not result in the confrontations and violence many had feared. A social media campaign called the Global Rally for Humanity had urged the protests as a stand against what it called “radical Islam.” But few people actually showed up. At some mosques, Muslims passed out food and water and invited the protesters inside for dialogue. Interfaith groups had urged their members to attend mosques in solidarity with Muslims, and in many areas, the Muslim supporters far out-numbered the protesters.
