Movement for Black Lives Issues Policy Demands

05-600

A coalition of more than 60 organizations affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement has issued its first official list of demands. In addition to criminal justice reform and reparations for descendants of slaves, the group called for ending federal aid to Israel, which it said makes the United States complicit in “the genocide committed against the Palestinian people.” American Jewish leaders condemned the statement as anti-Semitic and profoundly at odds with a long history of shared purpose between Jewish and African-American communities working for civil rights.
