Native American Tribes Gather to Fight North Dakota Oil Pipeline

Native American Tribes Gather to Fight North Dakota Oil PipelineThe largest gathering of Native American tribes in more than a century continues to protest the construction of a proposed oil pipeline in North Dakota. The 1,100 mile pipeline would be the first to transport crude oil directly from North Dakota to refineries on the US Gulf Coast. Native Americans are outraged that the pipeline crosses ancient burial and prayer sites. They also fear a rupture of the pipeline could taint the Missouri River, the main source of their drinking water.
