A new report from the Leadership Network and the Hartford Institute for Religion Research says while the number of people attending megachurches has increased, worshippers are visiting less often. According to the report, every week about 5 million people attend a megachurch. But individual attendance is down to once or twice a month. Participation by the so-called Gen-X generation, ages 35 to 49, is down from 28 percent in 2010 to 23 percent today. The report says 71 percent of those who attend megachurches call themselves evangelical.
