UN: Boko Haram Violence Threatens Food Security in Nigeria and Surrounding Countries

Thousands of Nigerians are experiencing a grave shortage of food after fleeing Boko Haram militants, according to the United Nations World Food Programme. Boko Haram attacks in northeast Nigeria have forced hundreds of thousands from their homes, many of them into neighboring countries including Cameroon, Niger, and Chad. The UN said child malnutrition is especially severe and rations may have to be reduced if the current funding shortfall continues.
