Sunday, November 1st, is All Saints Day, when many Western Christians honor saints and martyrs. Monday, the 2nd, is All Souls Day, when they remember all who have died. On this day, Catholics specifically pray for the souls of people in purgatory.

There are different traditions to commemorate this season, which some Christians call Hallowtide. In Mexico, All Souls Day is also known as the Day of the Dead. Many celebrations there mix Catholic rituals and indigenous practices to remember those who have died.
