This past week (January 27) was International Holocaust Remembrance Day. At a ceremony at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, President Obama helped honor four people who saved Jews during World War II. One was a teacher on a Mennonite service project. Another was an American service member, Master Sargeant Roddie Edmonds. When his Nazi captor asked Jewish prisoners in a German camp to identify themselves, Edmonds, a Christian, replied: “We are all Jews here.” Citing Edmonds’ response, the president urged all Americans to remember that “an attack on any faith is an attack on all of our faiths.”
