A new report says the crisis in Syria may also have been a factor in the deaths of more than 1,200 Christians in that country last year. The nondenominational group Open Doors documented over 2,100 Christian deaths worldwide in 2013, which is double the previous year’s total. The figures came from the group’s World Watch List of countries that persecute Christians. North Korea topped the list for the twelfth consecutive year. Somalia was second; Syria came in third.
