In Paris, a UN summit on climate change began this week. The meeting has strong support from many religious communities. Catholics released a petition with more than 800,000 signatures calling for more action to help poor people affected by climate change. On Tuesday (December 1), religious activists completed a fast meant to call attention to the victims of climate change. Leaders from a wide variety of faiths have fasted on the first day of the month for the last two years. The UN summit ends next week (December 11). Organizers hope to generate an international accord to address the crisis.
