The Presbyterian Church in America repented for past racial sins at its biennial General Assembly in Mobile, Alabama. The church confessed and repented for “corporate and historical sins, including those committed during the civil rights era, and continuing racial sins of ourselves and our fathers such as the segregation of worshippers by race.” The denomination also confessed to past participation in white supremacist organizations. Meanwhile, the Presbyterian Church USA, which also met this month, passed several resolutions aimed at pressuring Israel, among them urging a realty company to stop sales of property within Jewish settlements in the occupied territories.
