Phyllis Tickle died this past week (September 22). She was a brilliant and enthusiastic lecturer and writer about American religious life who saw in the decline of church membership what she labelled an “emerging” church. She herself prayed every few hours and published a popular collection of prayers called The Divine Hours. In all, she wrote 40 books. Phyllis’s love of life brought her many friends, among them those of us who produce this program. She will be greatly missed.
